Welcome to dict.is (“the Service”), operated by dict.is (“the Company”, “we”, “us”).
By using or accessing this Service, you (“the User”) agree to comply with these Terms of Service (“Terms”).
These Terms apply to all users within the European Economic Area (EEA) and are designed in accordance with EU consumer and data protection law.


1. Description of the Service

dict.is provides a web-based service that allows users to upload or record audio messages that are automatically transcribed and summarized into text using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The Service is provided for productivity and informational purposes and does not constitute professional advice or certified transcription.


2. Acceptance of Terms

By using dict.is, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and our Privacy & Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Service.


3. Eligibility

This Service is intended for users aged 16 or older.
By using dict.is, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement or that you have obtained parental or guardian consent where required by applicable law.


4. Account & Consent

By using the Service, you consent to the processing of limited personal data as described in our Privacy & Data Policy, in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).


5. Lawful and Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
In particular, you must not:

  • Use the Service to upload or share unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful content;
  • Infringe upon intellectual property, privacy, or data protection rights;
  • Attempt to disrupt or compromise the integrity or security of the Service.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, software, designs, and other materials forming part of dict.is are protected by intellectual property laws and belong to dict.is or its licensors.
Users may not copy, modify, reproduce, or distribute any material from the Service without prior written consent.


7. Use of Third-Party Services

dict.is relies on trusted third-party service providers, including Groq and Supabase, for AI processing and infrastructure.
These providers act as data processors under the GDPR and process user data only under our documented instructions and with appropriate safeguards.


8. Data Processing and Retention

dict.is does not permanently store user audio recordings or transcription data.
The only personal information retained may include:

  • User name
  • Phone number
  • WhatsApp business profile (if applicable)

All other data is processed in transit and deleted immediately after use.
Processing and storage comply with Articles 5, 6, and 32 of the GDPR.


9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
While we strive to ensure accuracy and availability, we make no guarantees that dict.is will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific requirements.
To the maximum extent permitted by EU law, all implied warranties are excluded.


10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, dict.is shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot be excluded under EU law.


11. Modifications

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time.
The updated version will be posted at https://dict.is/ts, with a revised effective date.
Continued use of the Service after such updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.


12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the European Union and, where applicable, the laws of the Member State in which you reside.
Consumers may bring legal proceedings in their Member State of habitual residence.
